Our 3rd Event Cari Makan - Go Go Vege!

Aye aye!!! We crews had down with loads of meat and curry and spicy and oily foods for the last two events. So this time we had agreed to go for VEGE(so-called healthier food) for this Cari Makan 3rd Event!!! YEAH!!!

So, on 24th May (Sun) we crews had invited 6 special guests with us to a popular vegetarian restaurant called "Popular Vegetarian Restaurant" (hehe :p) behind Open University at Penampang (new shoplots called Lintas Jaya Uptown - Kepayan Highway).

1st pic: Amy and her hubby, Jack (Guest 1 & 2) *sweet couple, aren't they? ;)*
2nd pic: Emily and Kimberly (Guest 3) *sweet sisters, aren't they? ;>*
3rd pic: Ricky a.k.a Food Explorer, Fot Kong & Damian (Guest 4 & 5) *sweet brothers, are they????*
4th pic: Mikey a.k.a Crew No. 0 and Sheau Fei (Guest 6)
Not in pic: The two crew members *starve n no energy to take pic*

Popular Vegetarian Restaurant is popular with its variety of vegetarian foods. Well, not really that green, the restaurant serve no meat and all food is halal. It serves no pork and it also has wedding packages for those who are interested in catering vegetarian foods for their wedding. Besides that, the presentation of the food is VERY good especially when the first dish was put on the table.

*We didn't have any pictures of the menu didn't we? >.<" Oops.... As we look through the menu, we were really stunned by the fact that there are just too many dishes to choose from... from vegetables to mock meat, mock seafood, and even to bubble tea and ABCs.... So in order to save time and be more professional (kononnya) we decided to just order the set food + fried rice ^^".

Here comes the 'shark fin'

The first dish being served is the vegetarian shark fin soup.. (konon saja shark fin tapi betul-betul macam shark fin) :p

Ricky still asking, "They can serve meat here meh?" Haha....

Did you see Captain Jack Sparrow?? :p -

Poot! Poot! Haha! Yeap, Our 'four season dishes' - this really impressed us crews and guests! Its not what we used to think about vegetarian food.. everything must in green colour. But Popular Vegetarian Restaurant serves it in a different and unique way... in a boat :p (j/k). The food on the boat were quite good. FLY ate the whole lettuce on the boat. Leaving the boat totally empty at the end hehe.

I think its prawn...

Butter Prawn... This is also another thing that really impressed us.. They can actually make it looks like prawn but its not. It is made from flour. The taste was not bad.. eatable :p.

*Even the taste also similar to prawn if you don't really figure it out at the first place that it is actually made from flour.*

Fish likes mango oo!

Deep Fried Fish with mango. "This is GOOD" quoted from Joanna. Yea.. She loved this so much.. because of the mango haha! Honestly, this is really good and most of us crews and guests picked this as our fav dish that night. A-must-eat!

*I thought Joanna said she likes this 'fish' is because this is the first time she ate a fish without any bones in it?? ^^ * boneless-fish LOL

Sau Nyuk in diguise..

Duck. Lol. Doesn't look like duck, do they? But we think it looked like nugget. This one okay okay only. Ricky said macam pohpiah taste.

*It is a combination of some 'flour made duck', mee hun, mushroom and some etc... I forget... *

I know what is this! Maggi Mee! :p

This is Yam with Assorted Vege. Haha! This is funny because when this dish was put on the table.. Our Emily was looking for the yam. She asked where is the yam?? The whole thing covered the assorted vegetables was the yam.. Kerepek yam.. looks like maggi haha!

I see char siew!!!

Salted Fish Fried Rice. That one is fake char siew ya.. Don't kena tipu :p. Taste okay only.

Doesn't look like vege oo

Crispy Tausa Pan Cake. Quite sweet, but overall nice! ;)

So, if you drop by somewhere Open University or you want to try vegetarian food, do come this place and give it a try. They also part of yamcha place as they serve lots of different beverages :). such as Milky Tea Pearl.. anf Yogurt Drinks... and some snacks too. wow.

*As you guys can see from the dishes that we ate that day... You can't really see any vegetables or what a vegetarian should be eating as all were fried food and mock meat + seafood. I guess it must have been because of the set food that we ordered that don't have any vegetables in it. *

Well another event has come to its end, we hope all the guests enjoy theirselves as this is the biggest event so far for us here in ♥ KK FOOD LOVERS ♥ with six guests in total.

Event accomplished!!! :)

(Pic a bit blur.. because the food photographer's cam had ran out of battery.. and had to use hp camera >.<)

Kedai Kopi Tian Tian Lai *BLACKLISTED by KK FOOD LOVERS' CREW*

On Board - Ricky and Mikey

*This post contains some anger and frustration comments which is not suitable for all readers.... 18SG.

Today gonna share my madness and angry bah. This stupid restaurant is damn slow on serving the food. Some more reply me with bad reasons on serving the foods slow. WTF.

KK-Food
*Next time chop out my hair ler haiz.... Looks so weird.
From the reflection seems like I am on the phone.... Hmmm....

This restaurant is located beside the road (Old Penampang) near Luyang Kesihatan there. Name KEDAI KOPI TIAN TIAN LAI. It seems that there is a lot uncle aunty having lunch there. However the serving is way too slow. Me and Crew No. 0 had reach the place about 1.15 pm on the day, the food is serve at around 2.00pm. OMG. So slow la. Oh ya, we had asked the waiter there the reason for the slow serving. They answer me with this

"Depan itu meja pun belum serve lagi, itu itu meja pun belum, tunggu bah"

I thought they would apologizes to us or tell us that the food is coming soon. But instead, they reply us like that. Some more, there is just about 2 tables that havent being serve only. OMG, i think they use about 10mins to serve 1 plate =.=.

And as we proceed to ask the owner of the shop why the service is so slow, he told us because the other shop a few feet away is having their holiday so they got a little busy. We were thinking, isn't this the right time for you to let customers know that you can do better than the other shop?

Here i will show u wad i and Crew.0 ate.

KK Food
* We already finish half portion of the food :)

The left hand side is Ketchup Pork ( RM 5.00) and right hand side is Ginger Pork (RM 5.00)
The food's taste are average, but they serve too slow d.

* I would have recommended that if you have time to sit down and chit chat with your friends while not in a rush to anywhere. You can visit this shop and give it a try, only not to expect too much from the service there.

2nd Event Cari Makan - Baba Nyonya!!!!

Aye our readers! As you all know, we, kkfoodlovers' crews had made our way into the Baba Nyonya land. This time it is called Kak Nong Restaurant in Jalan Bundusan, Beverly Hills. With us this time was Vincent (our loyal guest, been with us in all our events), Ang and also Ah Bing.

The shop is easy to find as there is a 'easy to notice' sign hanging by the entrance of the restaurant.

See ~ Beautiful isn't it...

I just realize the motto there.... Hot, spicy, and sweet. Ei, we didn't order any sweet dishes do we?

Ahem, let's get serious to the contents of the post, shall we? Hehe...

Venue - Kak Nong (Beverly) - Next to Hotel Bundusan
Time - 7.30pm, 17th May 2009, Sunday

First, it is always important to introduce our special guests of the night to all the readers out there.... Three handsome young man, energetic and charming aren't they?

So, who are they?

Our loyal guest Vincent, special guest flying back from Johore Ah Bing, and an auditor with a promising future Ang.

P/S: From the smile of their face, seems like they can't wait to start dining >.<" Okay, to the food.... Let us start with the drinks.

Cendol Susu RM 3 and Leong Fun Susu RM 3
(Seldom to see cendol serve in glass nowadays but it is nice.... Hmmm....)

Rendang Daging RM 6.50

(How should I put it.... the taste is not strong for a rendang) and not spicy for certain ppl who is really fancy on spice food like *ehem* Vincent. He told us that he can really eat the whole chilli padi without feeling anything. He is searching for SPICIER food. So, ppl out there, pls recommend us any SPICEST food in KK? and of course for some ppl who don't fancy on spicy food like *ehem ehem* Emily. She only took a small piece of the rendang daging and that's it. All she needs is her fav Mango Lassi from Anjappar(Indian Restaurant at KAC).

Gulai Ikan Kak Nong RM 6.50
(The curry tastes great!! Recommended to all here. Not to mention one of our crew, FLY drank it like soup and finished the whole big bowl of it ^^ tasty....)

Gado-Gado RM 5
Emily's favourite! Guess because it is not hot or spicy?? The only-not-spicy-food that she can telan.. Haha...

Kak Nong Special (The ULTIMATE 15-ingredients-top with ice cream) RM 5.50 *i repeat again.. 15 INGREDIENTS.. Joanna and Emily were actually trying to figure out what are the ingredients actually... Jelly, red bean, corn, green jelly, red jelly, ICE, ice cream............... @_@ the others were found unknown. @_@

Overall, there are some dishes which we enjoy and some which we aren't really satisfied. Maybe it is with our taste, not used to Baba Nyoya style ^^ and we all still think that the food we ate NOT BABA & NYONYA enough =.=

Kangkung Belacan tiada gambar. potong gaji photographer. kakaka

See the green green plate on the top right corner? That is the kangkung belacan!!! our photographer forgot to take a shot. And yes, the belacan is really HOT!!! AND SPICYYYY!!! WE ALL thinks that the kangkung belacan is really HOT excluded Vincent-the-spicy-food-fanatic.

What do we do after we finish our food? Get to know our new friends here of course ;)

From left to right, Joanna is directing how the pictures should be taken. Emily sedang bermasam muka because, I dunno lol..... Mike is enjoying his Air suam. Ah Bing, Ricky, and Ang are discussing some plans for $$$, and Vincent is observing and thinking "What is all these people doing?"

*No comment...* Left-side is our "pro" photographer, Joanna who forgot to take the important shot of our kangkung belacan. Maybe she starved and forgot to take the pic and all in her mind was to eat eat n eat. and our right-side is our Emily who was wondering what to eat since all the food here is HOT & SPICY.

Oh, our FLY and Vincent are sharing together the ABC there, I see....

and they are still sharing their ABC together there, I see I see....

My best friend since Form 6. From the same kampung, same hospital of birth, and.... why is this picture so blur???

I er... dunno what to comment liao.... Mike is enjoying Air suam again.... Joanna is acting again and Emily is still bermasam muka again =.=

Owh.... see how happy is everyone here after the event. All are showing their big smile with white teeth. Nice!

And it only means one thing people....

Time for some Chop!!

On Board : Mikey, Ricky and Emily

Time for an update... ^^

So it is Tuesday night, just finish a busy + stressful + somehow boring -.-" day at the office. What can be done to cool down ourselves? Going around for some food of course... Oh boy, am I hungry!!

So, we gather ourselves at Ricky's house. Waiting him to prepare himself, bath, dress up, make-up.... i mean set up his hair -.-"

Off we go as Emily arrived, looking around for anything to fill up our empty stomach... (There is always a small conflict arise as we discuss "Where to dine?!")

After not so much discussion, here we are;

Archie De Corner (Lido)

Our first order;

Lambchop RM 17
(Add some mint sauce to the lamb and hmmm.... ain't it tasty ^_______^)

Chicken Chop RM 14
(The chicken is juicy and tender... yum yum yum)

Pork Chop RM 17
(Initially we aren't thinking of ordering this. But then, taking risks once in a while doesn't seem so bad. Thumbs up for this delight!!)

Overall: 4/5

We sure are satisfy with what we ate here ^^ We chit chat a bit to give some time for our stomach to digest the food... Discussing about our special guests for this Sunday. Who will it be? Hehe.....

All these fried food is making our throat dry especially with such a hot weather these days. So we plan to have something to soothe us down. And hence, next destination;

Yen Ai (Lintas)

Durian Iced RM 5.50
(The crew who ordered this keeps complaining, "Too sweet, smell too strong!!" @.@" So it depends if you like sweet stuff...)

Five herbs tea RM 3
(No idea what herbs are in there, but then not bad for a herbs drink.)

Red Bean Ice RM 4
(I er... it should tastes good.... I'll leave this for Ricky to comment...)

Overall: 3/5

This place sure is packed with people. From teenagers to office workers to uncle aunty.... Basically, it is a place for all kind of age range.

It is almost 11pm now, I know it is still early but there is still work in the office that need to be done the next day....

So that's all for now.... and don't forget guys, to follow up this Sunday's event with our theme "Baba & Nyonya" ^^

Taiwan Cuisine

On board - FLY, Ricky and Emily

Time : 5 May 09 lunch time around 1pm
Venue : Taiwan Cuisine (Putatan area - Near Servay Putatan)

Today damn hot man! The weather sux. Thinking of getting a cold drink just to cool the burning throats XD.

It took us about 15 mins to search for our 'restaurant of the day' around Putatan area. Finally arrived at this shop called "Taiwan Cuisine". Needless to say, the boss is a Taiwanese. But his slang just like china slang. =.= NVM, filling up our empty and noisy stomach is more important .

They recommended about 6 different kinds of food for us to try. And after some thoughts, we ordered a few from the 6 options we have earlier.

Milky Tea Pearl RM 3.50
Emily loves this but Fly said that this is too sweet for her.

Noodle Wantan Soup RM 4

BuBur CaCa RM 5.50

Taiwan Cuisines drinks' menu RM priceless

Taiwan Noodle Beef Herb Soup RM 6

Bai Hua Sa Long (Mix Fruit) RM 5.50

Salted Crispy Chicken Noodle Set RM 5

The milky tea pearl here is slightly different than Yoyo. It tastes sweeter a bit and is just like 'China style' milk tea. DO try this if u like China style. Oh ya, the bubur caca is DIFF from local bubur caca as local bubur caca ingredients include yam, sagu and santan, right? As for the Taiwan bubur caca, it uses mixed fruit and santan as their main ingredient. Next is the Bai Hua Long Sha, which consists of mixture of fruits, pudding and strawberry jam. Hey, this one tastes good, but still, it is a little too sweet.

Sampai food now,

The herb soup is a Taiwan style beef noodle. Do taste this if u like those ngiu chap. The specialty of the Wantan noodles lies in their wantan meat, with a little sesame oil added on the soup,
smells good, yum yum. The salted crispy chicken doesn't seem crispy to me at all. Lembek betul. Haha.

Overall the meal costs us Rm29.50.
Overall ratings for this restaurant : 13/15
Emily's review : Strongly recommended for dessert lovers.

P/S : 2 crew members were missing in action as they are working. Working really hard for their future and for their country...
